Bad Credit Credit Cards – Which Type is Best?

Bad credit credit cards are considered the best choice for credit card deals if your credit score is below 550. In today’s market there are many companies offering credit cards that are designed for bad credit.

If you are looking for a bad credit credit card, here are a few things you should know. Bad credit credit cards are used the same as regular credit cards. But these cards come with a higher price tag. More specifically they have higher interest rates and more fees associated with them. These extra fees may include: application fees, transaction fees, monthly fees, annual fees and penalties. Finding the right bad credit credit card for you is critical to your credit history building efforts. The right card can help you immensely, but choose a bad one and it will make your situation worse. You need to know your options before jumping at the next credit card offer.

Debit Cards

In order to get a debit card you will have to open a bank account and make a deposit into your account. The bank will use your deposit as collateral, and therefore they are not really giving you credit. The transactions you make with your debit card will use the money from your account. But most banks will not report debit card activity to the credit reporting companies. Therefore, this will not help your situation at all. It will not affect your credit score.

Credit experts recommend that you rebuild your credit history using a secured credit card. This is similar to a debit card in that it requires you to back your credit limit with a deposit. But the major difference is that these transaactions will be reported the major credit reporting companies. This will begin to boost your credit score, and in time allow you to move to an unsecured credit card.

Credit Cards

Bad credit credit cards are probably the best option for repairing your credit history. Today there are several lending companies offering bad credit credit cards. These cards are designed for people with a blemished credit history. You must make sure that you compare your bad credit credit card options carefully. Pick a good one and soon you will notice your credit score rising. Once your score gets above 650, you will be able to apply for some of the best credit card and loan deals available.

Good insight! I know there are many folks out there that are confused about how to “repair” their credit. Which means don’t get more bad credit cards and max them out but use them to leverage better credit for the ultimate goal of a higher credit score.
    Do good things!
